Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

It’s written ‘Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at AN HOUR YOU DO NOT EXPECT’ (Mathew 24:42-44)

Mathew 24 in general tells us about the signs of the end times and second coming of Jesus. Relating what was prophesized and what is happening in our times, it is obvious that we are at the close of the age and thus it is a wakeup call for the church to be prepared for their master. Now in regard to preparation, an understanding of the times is a key factor and we will look at it from the following three important areas.

  • Don’t underestimate whatever happens to the nation of Israel

The bible in Mathew 24:32-33 says “From the fig tree learn its lesson: as soon as its branch becomes tender and puts out its leaves, you know that summer is near. So also, WHEN YOU SEE ALL THESE THINGS, you know that he is near, at the very gates”.

If you read different verses in the bible regarding Israel in connection to end times you will realize that when Jesus said ‘when you see all these things’ in one side he referred to the earlier predicted signs and on the other hand he meant things that will be happening to the Israel as a fig tree. That is, we should be very much concerned on what is happening in Israel because it is connected to the future events and thus foretelling our destiny as well.

The advancing international efforts and decisions towards seeking peace solution in the region, the tension in regard to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and Israel security in general reminds us of what has been prophesized and thus  signifying that, the second coming of Jesus is very near. Therefore, if you real want to have a clear understanding of times according to the Bible prophecies, don’t underestimate whatever happens to Israel. This is because whatever happens there tells us something and it has a crucial meaning to the church on earth, and thus we must be prepared.

  • Thinking in terms of time and purpose

The bible in Ecclesiastes 3:1 says ‘For everything there is a season and a time for every matter under heaven’. Also in Ecclesiastes 3:11 it says ‘He has set the right time for everything. He has given us a desire to know the future, but never gives us the satisfaction of fully understanding what he does (GNB).

This implies that we are called to think in terms of time and an understanding of the times will help us to do the right thing at the right time. We should learn to have an inquisitive mind in whatever we want to do. This include meditating and praying for every matter while questioning our self about its times in mind. Indeed we should learn how to interpret what is carried in each season and ensure it is done efficiently, because each season contains a package of things which need to be accomplished during that particular season.

In another way, there is a distance to be covered in every season, if you fail to finish it, you will not be in position to know the next route and its distance as well. Consider the input – processing – output syndrome of production cycle, each cycle represent a season. In the input stage there are things that should be done for the second and third stage to take place as well.

Remember what God did during the six days of creation, whatever was done in each day was connected to the future.  Yes, everything is beautiful/perfect and produces the intended results if it is done in its proper time. Thus for us to reap and enjoy the beauty/benefit of every matter we must learn to think in terms of time and purpose, like the children of Issachar (1Chronicles 12:32).

  • Making the best use of time

In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul alerted the saints, writing “Be very careful, then, how you live – not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16). Paul was arguing them to use their time carefully because time is fasting running out, and this truth should help us make better use of it to serve God’s purpose as each of us is called.

If you read Psalm 90:10 it says ‘The years of our life are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty; yet their span is but toil and trouble; they are soon gone, and we fly away’. It is obvious that our time on earth is very short and therefore we should live as God would have us live by making the best use of our time.

Having knowledge that we will have to give an account to the One who gives us time, we should then have a clear understanding of the seasons and times we are in. We should have knowledge of what do seasons and times demands us to do and on the other hand we should always ask our ourselves, what is that should be done today in connection to our destiny and God’s will in our life. Having such knowledge, the Psalmist once said “Teach us to number our days that we may gain a heart of wisdom (Psalm 90:12)”.

Brethren, having seen the three above important things, Please, don’t allow the pleasures of this world to take control of your life because we are warned that we should not conform to the pattern of this world, for the world is passing away along with its desires (1John 2:17). Don’t let them pull you in different directions and thus get swallowed up by them. It’s my payer that, may this sermon motivate you to invest your time in doing right things and give value to every minute that you have thus preparing yourself for the Lord’s return.

Glory to Jesus, may his grace be with you.

Shalom, in this month allow me to share with you this vital message regarding an understanding of God’s ways in our life since knowing God is a very important aspect of our Christian life. For us to know him, we must have an understanding of his ways, for we can’t afford living without them because they are not only necessary but also mandatory for a successful life.

Reading from Exodus 33:13 the Bible says ‘Now therefore, if I have found favor in your sight, please show me now your ways, that I may know you in order to find favor in your sight. Consider too that this nation is your people’. Despite Moses having favor in the Lord but he still he wanted to know God’s ways in his life, for he realized he can’t lead his people without a proper understanding of Gods ways.

Reading through the Bible I came to realize that there are some important truths that you need to understand in regard to God’s ways and here is the summary of it;

Truth 1 – Believers must understand that it is the will of God for them to walk according to his ways. If you read Psalm 81:13 it says ‘Oh, that my people would listen to me, that Israel would walk in my ways!’ Therefore for us to walk according to his ways demands us to have an understanding of his ways in our life.

You need to understand that apart from God’s ways there are man’s ways and other (Satan) ways. God’s ways are meant to lead a person to a proper destiny according to God’s will of creation and other ways are meant to lead one away from God’s will of creation and that is why it is necessary to walk in God’s ways not yours.

Truth 2 – Believers needs to know (understand) and to be taught God’s ways, so as to serve God’s purpose in their life.  In the book of Psalm 25:4-5 it is written ‘Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my salvation; for you I wait all the daylong’. Serving God’s purpose (Romans 8:28) in your life demands a clear understanding of his ways, and that is why the Psalmist waited all the daylong for God to show him his ways.

In Psalm 32:8 it is written I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you’. This proves that God has prepared or has ways of doing or achieving things or purposes in life and he is willing to lead every person who seeks him unto his ways. Therefore, primarily is not which path you follow but whom (Master) you follow and believe. Remember only God can teach and lead you to the straight/level path and thus we should not only be eager to know his ways, but we should let him instruct us.

Truth 3 – Believers need to know that there is the will of the enemy (Satan) as well in regard to their life. In psalms it is written ‘Teach me your way, O LORD, and lead me on a level path because of my enemies. Give me not up to the will of my adversaries; for false witnesses have risen against me, and they breathe out violence (Psalm 27:11-12). This means that a believer must have a good knowledge of God’s ways in his life, because failure to that he will fall in the will (ways) of the enemy.

Isaiah 55:7-8 says ‘Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD’. Hallelujah brethren, still we have a another chance, let us forsake whatever we realize is contrary to God’s will in our life, let us surrender our life to him and let him be Lord and leader of our life.

Truth 4 – Believers must understand that, lacking an understanding of God’s ways is grieving God. In the book of Psalms 95:10-11 it is written ‘For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.’  How astonishing this statement is, that for forty years God was grieved by the Israelites, to the extent of not letting them enter the Promised Land. How many times even today we grieve the Holy Spirit just because of lacking an understanding of God’s ways in our life.

In all aspects of life make sure that you seek and search for God’s ways in daily basis so as not to grieve him and live against his will. Remember his ways are not our ways; his thoughts are not ours, for He is God and we are human beings. Develop a discipline of seeking God for direction and guidance in whatever you are doing and going through. There is always God’s way of doing something/overcoming a situation and that is why this message comes in to guide you.

Finally reading from Psalm 103:7 the Bible says ‘He made known his ways to Moses, his acts to the people of Israel’. Moses had time for God’s revelation/direction through prayers (Refer Exodus 3:13) and thus dwelling in the house of God (Psalm 27:4). The Bible teaches us that there are ways and acts of God. Acts are just outcomes of a certain process; refer the input processing output syndrome. We should not be satisfied or glad because of God’s acts in our life but we should be hungry of understanding the path or process behind those outcomes.

An understanding of God’s ways in and for our life is mandatory, we can’t afford living without his ways otherwise we will end up with shame and agony like what happened to our fore fathers. Often teach you heart and mind to search for God’s ways in your life so as to save his purpose. It is true there might be a number of ways to face a challenge or achieve a purpose, but remember God’s ways are different from any other ways, his ways are truth and life.

May God’s grace be with you, glory to Jesus.

The Bible in Mathew 26:36-44 saysThen Jesus went with them to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to his disciples, “Sit here, while I go over there and pray.” And taking with him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he began to be sorrowful and troubled. Then he said to them, “My soul is very sorrowful, even to death; remain here, and watch with me.”  And going a little farther he fell on his face and prayed, saying, “My Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as you will.”  And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping.

And he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour. Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.” Again, for the second time, he went away and prayed, “My Father, if this cannot pass unless I drink it, your will be done.” And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were heavy. So, leaving them again, he went away and prayed for the third time, saying the same words again’.

When his time to be crucified was near, Jesus took his disciples and went with them to a place called Gethsemane for prayers. As it is written three times he prayed that “Father if it be possible, let this cup pass from me”. The cup he was talking about is that of suffering and finally being crucified on our behalf because of our sins. In other way he was saying father please find an alternative of saving this people from the power of sin and Satan, but not through this kind of punshment and death.

My dear reader despite the fact that though the criminals were also hanged on the cross, Jesus crucifixion was completely different because he was to be wounded for our transgressions and be crushed for our iniquities. The man whom he had done no violence that deserves such punishment.

Having un understanding of the heavy punishment that he has to go through on our behalf and the fact that he was also a human being he prayed to his father, Father if it be possible let the cup pass way, don’t make me suffer. How did his father respond to his prayer? Reading from Isaiah 53:10 the Bible says “Yes it was the will of the LORD to crush him, he has put him to grief; when his soul makes an offspring for sin, he shall see his offspring; he shall prolong his days; the will of the Lord shall prosper in his hand”.

Thus from this verse we now realize that there was no alternative than going through all the sufferings and the cross. The Bible reveals to us that it was the will of the father that his own begotten son should go through such a shameful and sufferings for the lost world.  In a simple way the Father responded to his son saying, Son I know it’s hard, but you must face the cross, because it is the only way for us to save this lost people from the powers of sin and hell.

My dearest reader, what kind of great love is this, indeed this is real the true love, for one to give his own life for his friends. Our Lord Jesus endured all the sufferings because of you and me. Please don’t let his work to be vain, through this message may you surrender your life to Christ because he is the only way to the father, as it is written “I am the way, the truth, and the life!” “Without me, no one can go to the Father (John 14:6).

Remember as well, time is coming whereby this grace of salvation that is available to all people freely will come to an end and instead of Jesus being a saviour he will become the judge sitting on his glorious throne (Mathew 25:31-33). How grieving and pitiful will it be for those who did not accept him as Lord and Savior, despite the different opportunities of accepting him they were given.  I’m telling you, on that day you will see another side (face) of Jesus which you cannot even imagine.

The good news is, it’s not too late, there is still another opportunity today. If you want to surrender your life to Christ please pray with me as follows ‘Lord Jesus, thank you because you died on the cross for my sins, I confess that I am a sinner, I repent of all my sins and I ask you to sanctify me by your precious blood, today I accept you as my Lord and Savior, come and take total control of my life’, Amen.

Since you have made this decision please do the following as well (a) find a fellow/friend whom you know that is also a believer and then inform him/her about your decision (b) If you do not belong to any church, look/search for any church that also believes in salvation, inform them of your decision as well (c) make sure you read the bible every day, meditate on it, your life will never be the same.

Believers, since we have surrendered our life to Christ, let us take heed that we do not fall, for its written ‘How shall we escape if we neglect such a great salvation? It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard’ (Hebrews 2:3).

The grace of God be with you

(Major reference is made from Mathew 25:14-29)

The Bible in verse 14-19 says ‘For it will be like a man going on a journey, who called his servants and entrusted to them his property. To one he gave five talents, to another two, to another one, to each according to his ability. Then he went away. He who had received the five talents went at once and traded with them, and he made five talents more. So also he who had the two talents made two talents more. But he who had received the one talent went and dug in the ground and hid his master’s money. Now after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them’.

To entrust means to assign someone with a certain responsibility while giving him some powers/gifts/abilities/privileges to execute that responsibility with the expectation of reaping something eventually.

Do you know why do you exist today?

Basing on the Bible, it is because you are called to serve God’s divine purpose on earth. The Bible in Romans 8:28 says ‘And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose’ (ESV). Also in the book of Proverbs 16:4 it is written ‘The LORD has made everything for its purpose, even the wicked for the day of trouble’.

Do you see? We have been called according to his purpose and therefore this indicates that, God has got a purpose for each of us to serve. You are not the wicked but his chosen generation/servant, so you are made, created for a purpose. Now in order to save his purpose in your life, He has entrusted you with a number of gifts, abilities and powers (talents). The questions remains how do you use these talents to serve his purpose?

Do you know that you will be accountable for what has been given to you?

Reading form Matthew 24:45-47 the Bible says “Who then is the faithful and wise servant, whom his master has set over his household, to give them their food at the proper time? Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you, he will set him over all his possessions.

Connect the ideas of Matthew, above, with Luke 12:47-48 where it says‘And that servant who knew his master’s will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating. But the one who did not know, and did what deserved a beating, will receive a light beating. Everyone to whom much was given, of him much will be required, and from him to whom they entrusted much, they will demand the more’.

Let us ponder on these statements, do you (we) really know what we are supposed to do here on earth? Do we really know our masters will for our life? Do you know how much has been given or entrusted to you? Thus an understanding of God’spurpose for your existence and knowing what has been entrusted unto you is very vital toward serving God’s will in your life.

Implication of the study

My dear Brethren, since we have been called by God to serve his will/purpose on earth, be sure that, time to be accountable (settle accounts) is ahead us, therefore;

  • Search from God to know his purpose and to be sure of what has been given (entrusted) to you. You need to have a clear understanding of your Master’s will while on earth.
  • Be a wise and faithful servant to your call by acting according to your master’s will. That is, begin and continue to be careful and faithful to you assignment (call) on earth.
  • Do you part and never compare your call to anyone else; this is because each of us has been entrusted according to God’s will of calling (different abilities). That is, we have been called differently, to some much has been given and some little has been given.
  • Don’t allow situations or rather challenges you are going through to hinder you from undertaking your assignment. Once you allow them to take control, it means you have decided to fail your mission here on earth.

‘To God be the glory, Hallelujah’

… You shall raise up the foundations of many generations… (Isaiah 58:12)
